Lynden School District Superintendent Semifinalists

The Lynden School Board has selected five semifinalists to interview for the superintendent vacancy. 


Each candidate will participate in a 50-minute interview with the Lynden School Board on Saturday, March 26, at the Lynden School District Office Board Room, 516 Main St., Lynden. The community is invited to watch the interviews and submit feedback to the board on each of the candidates. A virtual viewing option will be available and forms available online for those who would like to provide feedback to the board.


The semifinalist interview schedule for March 26:

• 9am, Bruce Kelly, Rainier Christian Schools superintendent

• 10am David VanderYacht, Lynden School District assistant superintendent

• 11am Tavis Peterson, Wapato Public Schools assistant superintendent

• 1pm Mike Snow, Lake Stevens School District executive director of secondary teaching and learning

• 2pm Lisa Riggs, Sweet Home School District superintendent 


The Lynden School Board will hold an executive session following the interviews beginning at 3 p.m. to identify three superintendent candidate finalists.


Finalist Interview Process

On March 28, 29 and 30, each finalist will spend the day in the school district meeting with employee groups. At the conclusion of each of these days a community forum will be held at Lynden Middle School between 6:15 and 7 p.m. Community members will have the opportunity to ask candidates questions and provide feedback to the board for consideration. Questions for finalist candidates may be submitted to [email protected].


On Thursday, March 31, the board will hold a public meeting to announce their selection for the next Lynden School District superintendent.
