FBLA vice president Andrew Slagle wanted to help the community this year. And he knew fellow students in the Lynden High School club would join in the effort. He just didn’t know how many.

As part of Lynden’s New Way Ministries’ program, the nonprofit coordinates an Angel Tree program for the entire community. As part of the program, community members can select an angel from a tree placed in various locations around town and then bring the requested item written on the angel to New Way Ministries to provide a gift—it could be food or toys or something else—for a family in need.

Slagle contacted Don Kok at New Way Ministries hoping to get the FBLA group in the mix.

After Slagle distributed 50 angels, he’s gone back to Kok for more, as Lynden High School FBLA has jumped on board with the Angel Tree program. As items get collected, FBLA students will bring them to New Way Ministries, preparing them for distribution during the holiday season.
