PTA Board Meeting Minutes
June 5, 2008
Members present: Fred, Karla, Shelly, Jani, Charmaine, Tiffany, and Angela Baesden.
We started by trying to replace some coordinators that are finished with their duties. So far we have new Room Parent Coord. And they are Charmaine and Angela. Tiffany also has a new volunteer coordinator as well. We would love to find someone to be a “Media” coordinator so they can help with communication and the newsletter.
We also discussed buying a safe or some kind of a money box for our t-shirt and umbrella money to be safely kept, Shelly was going to talk with Jenny our new treasurer about setting that up.
Fred will be working on 3 General meeting dates and get them to Dave so they can make it on the district activities calendar.
Fred and Dave both have volunteers for the “End of the year Bash” on Wed. things are set and ready to go! Let’s hope for SUN!!
Karla and Fred are going to set up a table for the “End of the year Bash” and sell t-shirts and umbrellas and have items of PTA there and Karla will pick up some balloons to go there as well. We will also have the fair booth sign up sheets there as well.
Angela is going to make some signs for Wed. night as well, to help people find where things are!
Thanks to everyone who has served on the board these past 2 years, we have made a strong connection with the staff, students and parents. Thanks for all your hard work, and willingness to volunteer! Have a great summer!

April 22, 2008
Fred welcomed everyone to the meeting, we went around and introduced ourselves.
We touched on checking out the Clean Water services for the staff lounge and Karla will check out that bill at Clean Water and we will help them pay for that through PTA.
May 29 is our Kindergarten night and we would like to have a table with information and some supplies there for incoming parents.
Minutes from last meeting stand approved.
We then asked for any new nominations for officers that are not already on the slate, and there were none.
David then made a motion to accept the slate of new officers as presented, and Scott Miller seconded it, and it was accepted as is.

Casey Mark then talked about teacher appreciation week, she has everything ready to go, the PTA is doing 3 days this year and leaving the other 2 days up to the room parent do their own things. This will take place May 5-9.
Glen and Charmaine will tentatively cover the staff lunch on Friday, Karla will follow up with them.
We are looking at June 11, for our next family fun night, with the inflatables, we are thinking to start at 4:30 and have families come for a hotdog BBQ, and WCC leadership kids will help out with supervision as well. Gina will finalize the details on this.
We will also have a sign up sheet there for the Fair Booth as well.
We then had a question and answer time with David, some questions were asked about the recent newspaper article, and the bond and levy, David tried to answer as best he could to keep us up to date with our district and schools.
We are still working on our grant money that the PTA is willing to help teachers out with, we will try to finalize this next board meeting.

General PTA meeting minutes
Jan. 15, 2008
Charmaine opened with some introductions.
Shelly gave us a summary of the financial report to review.
We then reviewed the minutes from our last meeting, Vicky Crane made a motion to approve them as read, and Fred seconded the motion, they stand approved as read.
We talked about the Lynden Lion umbrellas, and we sold them all and Karla will order 60 more of them.
Karla and Jessica will also get going on ordering the t-shirts, we just need to narrow down some sizes, there will be 2 different styles, one that is Isom Elementary, and the other is Lynden Lions. They should be available shortly. For $10.00 or less.
David also shared with us that we will start to have green and gold days on every Friday.
David also gave us an IT update, we are possibly thinking of a way to use some of our PTA money to help with technology in the classrooms. Like projector mounts, and things like that.
We are about to have another Family Fun Night, on Feb. 15, Gina Langstraat is our coordinator for this event, we are having a movie night, we will be showing Shrek 3, this event will be FREE and Faith Reformed Church has offered to be our servers for the night, they will serve, popcorn and hot chocolate. We will hopefully have our new Isom PTA waterbottles there as well.
We are currently looking for people to be on a nominating committee, for new officers, they do need to be a member of PTA. These people need to be brought to David V.Y. and he will do the calling. This committee needs to come up with a slate, to present at the March 4, meeting. We will be voting at our April 22, meeting.
Fred touched on eScrip everyone should have had a handout go home, and Shelly will check on the account and make sure our money is directed to Isom PTA.
Cookie Dough fundraiser is this month, we will begin selling Jan. 24-Feb. 8. Pick up will be on March 11. We hope to use cookie dough money for a end of the year celebration, with inflateables, and free yearbooks and a DVD.
Teacher appreciation week is May 5-9 we will be working with our coordinator and room parents to get this going.

PTA Board meeting minutes
Dec. 4, 2007
Members present: David V.Y., Jani McKay, Shelly Brockett, Fred Abitia, Karla Bonsen, Charmaine U., and Coordinators: Casey mark, Gina Langstraat, Tiffany Rothwell, Jessica McPhail, and Chad and Lindsey V.Y.
We started out discussing our next Family Fun night, which we had decided would be on Feb. 15, we are thinking to have an indoor movie with popcorn and hot chocolate. Everyone needs to bring chairs or blankets and it will cost $2.00 to get in. Dave will do a raffle during our intermission and give away Isom spirit stuff. Dave will also make the decision of our movie, which will be b/w Shreck 3, Meet the Robinsons, or Ratitioule.
We wanted to have more available to drink than just hot chocolate, so Shelly is going to check and see if, and where, we could put a Isom PTA logo on some water bottles to hand out as well.
Shelly then presented the Treasury report, we all received a copy to review.
Karla and Jessica will check on some t-shirts to have available after the first of the year, to sell at school.
Karla will have the umbrellas by the end of this week, we will make up a flyer to advertise them a bit and make a schedule to deal with when and where to sell them, and who will help with this.
We all decided from input from kids that we need more “spirit days” (green and gold) we are wanting to check and see if we could have them at least once a month, we will check with David and Staff about this.
Fred has the e-scrip flyer all ready to go, he just wanted to know what kind of a heading to put on the top of the letter, we decided to go off the banner for now just to get it out, and he was going to check with some graphic art students at WCC and see if they wanted to help design something for Isom.
We also decided that we all need to be thinking of our mission statement as a PTA and bring our ideas to the next meeting on Jan. 15 , we can compile them and see if we can establish a mission statement, specific for our PTA.
Jessica is going to check with Vossbeck concerning their student store, this is something we are seriously thinking about doing, but are a little hesitant about all the bookkeeping that goes with it. We will also discuss this at our Jan. 15 meeting.
On our Jan 15 meeting we need to be discussing a nominating committee, for new officers, we could ask for volunteers by 2 sign up sheets that get passed around and people can sign if they want to.
Our Next Meeting will be Jan15, @ 6:15 for the executive board, with a General Meeting to follow @ 7:00 pm.

Oct. 2, 2007
Fred Abitia opened with a welcome and introductions.
Shelly then gave us a financial report.
Karla gave a minute to look over the minutes from last meeting, Jessica made a motion to approve them as read, and Tanya Scheib seconded that, all were in favor, motion was carried.
David touched on how we could use some PTA money within the school to help or support programs.
Lindsey VY. talked a little bit about our next family fun night, which is going to be Oct. 19 starting at about 5:30 we are going to have a spaghetti feed again as well as games and a structured open gym, with stations and when dinner is cleaned up we are having a big bingo game.
We also discussed some other options for family fun nights and some were a movie night, something outdoor in the spring, petting zoo etc. Anyone with great ideas we would love to hear about them.
We currently have 90 PTA members, the kids were given their blinking paw necklaces and we are still taking new members as well.
Casey Mark (Room Parent cord.) told about how she had put teacher questionnaires in teacher boxes to go home with room parents, these have some info. about the teacher on them as well as some things they like or do not like.
Shelly touched on e-scrip, where you can sign your Safeway card up under our school and when you use it our school receives a percentage. Fred’s wife Pam will organize this as well and get info. home with kids to parents to inform them of how it works.
Mrs. Allen will check on how to donate existing money in your account @ safeway to Isom.
Next General Meeting will be Dec. 4 from 7:00-8:00
