Please save these concert dates: 2nd and 3rd grade concert will be April 1 at BVE gym at 7:00. Kinder/1st grade concert will be May 16 in the BVE gym at 2:15 pm. 4th and 5th grade concert will be on June 3, 7:00 pm in the BVE gym. |

| This year "Composer of the Month" is a mystery with clues posted on the wall outside the music room. Students may put their guesses on notes and put them in the box. At the end of the month everyone who guessed correctly gets a small prize. The clues will change every month to reflect a new composer. | ||

The 5th grade is continuing their "Ode to Composer" contest. This is a song with 52 random classical composers, and is very difficult to memorize since there is no story line. It is set to the tune "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven. |
The 2nd grade has started their "Sakura" contest - singing a song in Japanese from memory. The song is about the beautiful cherry trees that bloom in the spring in Japan. |
3rd graders are learning a song in Chinese. |
Recorder Karate is a method where students earn different "belts" when they have mastered songs with new notes or techniques in them. |
The 4th graders must memorize this very difficult song, "Say What?", sing it for me, and earn a token. The class that has the most students who know it by memory by April 21 will earn an ice cream party. The classroom contest part has been extended to April 28 and may be cancelled due to lack of interest. |
