“Catch the Reading Bug”

Stop by the Lynden Public Library and sign up for their exciting summer reading program! YOU set your own reading goals.  They can be achieved in a variety of ways – reading independently, reading to someone else, someone reads to you, or listening to a book tape.  Prizes are given to those who achieve their goal.  The program runs from June 4 – July 26.  It’s NOT too late to join!  Check out the AUGUST Reading Program as well!
Remember….treat yourself and read every day!

The Brown Bag Storytime will again take place at BVE during the lunch periods. At this time, the librarian will read a chapter book known for its literary merit. Students will be selected at each grade level and from each classroom at that grade level to participate in this event. The first session will be held for ALL Second Grades; the second session for ALL Third Grades; the third session for ALL Fourth/Fifth Grades. A total of three “rounds” (nine sessions) will occur throughout the school year so all students who wish to participate may do so. A bag or boxed lunch is required for all four days of the session. Additional information will be sent home when your child is selected .

Mrs. Gill

For the last five years, it has been my delight to be the librarian at Bernice Vossbeck Elementary School. Before this time, I was either a teacher or a librarian for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools overseas. My “tours of duty” included Germany, Japan, and the Philippines. While living in these countries, I had the good fortune to travel to many other countries both in the Far East and Europe.

I treasure the opportunity to share my love of reading with all the students at this wonderful school. It is my wish that they discover the joy of reading and become lifelong readers.
