    Lynden High School
    Welcomes Principal
     Ian Freeman!
     Ian Freeman

I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself. This will be my first year as Principal at LHS and I am very excited to be here. My education background includes being a math teacher, coach, dean of students, and assistant principal in several different schools both in Washington and New York City.

I was born and raised in Westport, Connecticut. I attended University of Connecticut, and during my junior year I studied abroad in Paris, France. It was during this trip I met my future wife, who was from Bellingham. After graduating college, we each found work in NYC. I began my career in education as a math teacher and freshman football coach at Truman High School in the Bronx. After two years in NYC, we decided it was time to move to Washington. I taught math for eight years at Edmonds-Woodway High School and then moved to Everett High School to be Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.
When the opportunity came up to be Principal at Lynden High School, I knew it would be the right choice for me and my family. This summer we moved to Whatcom County so we could raise our children Lynden Style. So far we have enjoyed going on adventures in the woods, tasting all the treats at the Raspberry Festival, visiting with the dairy heifer in the FFA barn, and eating plenty of fresh raspberries and ice cream. My children are looking forward to their school year at Isom Elementary, and I am very eager to further develop the Spirit, Pride, and Tradition of Achievement at Lynden High School. It is with great excitement that I join Lion Pride!

Please help us to make Lynden High School the best that it can be by volunteering
We are looking for parent/guardian volunteers to join our Learning Leadership Committee.  We meet once a month from 7:00 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. This group discusses school rules, solves problems, brainstorms ideas for improvement and helps us keep on top of possible concerns.  Please consider joining us!
In addition, let us know if you have certain skills or talents that could help us to improve our school. If you want to become involved at LHS, please contact Assistant Principal, Lisa Mckeen, and she'll be able to answer your questions and concerns.
    Annual Yearly Progress (AYP)
The Lynden School District recently mailed information to student households regarding our Annual Yearly Progress reports. You may access the AYP Letters here, along with an overview of Supplemental Education Services (SES) for parents and vendors.
